When The Going Gets TOUGH
Eureka! I’ve found My Niche…
Wouldn’t it be great for writers to say that upfront? I mean it’s the one truism, I think, for writers trying to make a name for themselves…their work. Finding ones niche, that body of work that you do so well. That something that only you have . That essence, style, panache and individuality that defines you as [...]
I’m Writing Today…
For anyone who’s reading my blog, you’re knowing my biggest obstacle -procrastination. yep, its still a major hinderence when it comes to my getting the work out…I have no problem doing the work, it’s finding the market/ sending it out that’s cramping my writers style. Take yesterday as case in point. I delve into files of writing I’ve completed some [...]
A Charley Pride Type Of Girl
I was thinking about Charley Pride today..maybe because I grew up listening to his music and liking that little southern twang to his lyrics…or, maybe because I’m borne Southern, sooo I’ll always be a country girl at heart… or maybe because Charley Pride was about the only person of Color back in those days who I knew [...]
A Great Body Of Work-Where To Send Your Masterpiece?
You’ve scored that all terrific interview from such a gracious writer! You’ve finished your very first short story who all of your friends tell you is just great! You’ve even completed your first book of poems…Everything for the beginner writer becomes brand new and once completed, leaves one wondering, where do I go from here?
This is [...]
The Play’s The Thing
Back in the 80s after suffering the traumatic loss of a young sibling, I felt driven to work through my grief by immortalizing the memories of a person who loved life and whose dreams and visions of a bright future were taken away, way too soon…
I began to write a play. A one-act sequence of flashbacks into [...]
Fashion Frantic Fashionistas!
You can imagine the frantic, fashion, frenzy, right about now, over at Myitthings. The 25 fashion semifinalists have been selected by the judges for the magazine’s “it designer” contest! This project apparently was a huge success for myitthings, as the editor Yuli Ziv alluded to an overwhelming influx of submissions(which I’d like to think clara54 had a [...]
Columnists
When I think of the great columns I’ve read over the span of years, I always seem to gravitate back to the days of an Ann Landers, Dear Abby, Mary Mitchell and Andy Rooney. I suppose for me it’s the nails and bolts of what makes a columnist memorable. Not only are they dishing out wise words [...]
Networking
It’s an essential tool in any startup business… Right about now, I’m feeling like Stephanie Mills when she purrs, “I feel goood…I feel goood all over ! ” Ok, people, so she wasn’t talking about freelance writing. We all know it was love. Well, it could be that too, but for now, I’m talking about my [...]
What’s Inside Your Writers’ Head?
When I sat down to write this AM, after coming home from my J.O.B. and crashing for 6 hours, I had no idea what my focus would be. I think if you’re a writer, you get what I mean. I don’t know why my intent rarely becomes the written article. You see, stuff just accumulates in my writers’ [...]
